Last year I was fortunate enough to be have been offered the opportunity to play in the one-day tournament supporting homeless in Vancouver. The tournament is held each year at UBC and it was nice to go back to my alma mater.
It seemed like a good fit for me to do my small part to help by combining my love for hockey with some fundraising for a worthy cause. This year I decided to join the volunteer Board for HHTH in Vancouver to help fundraise and organize the tournament. Our company, Bissett, is also now a sponsor.
I get that there are a number of great causes to support so we have to advocate hard to direct funds towards the things that are meaningful to us. If you supported me last year, thanks again. If you are able to support me again, that would be great. If you were not able to support me last year but can find a way this year, I would really appreciate it.
Please follow the link to my personal page below. The really nice thing about this group is that almost all of the people involved are volunteers so most of the money raised goes to various charities/groups that support homeless people in Vancouver. Last year almost $500K went directly to those programs – just from the Vancouver tournament. We support the Salvation Army, First United Church, Covenant House, Last Door, and many more awesome organizations.
